Start with the money
Whatever runs your household ends up holding the same material: the school emails, the medical details, your children’s names and ages, where everyone will be on Saturday. Worth asking what the company on the other end does for a living.
Meta says Muse does not share your conversations or the data in your Muse VM with its ad systems. Read that next to the other thing Meta announced: from 16 December 2025, interactions with AI at Meta are used to personalise the content and ads people see, rolling out in most regions. UK and EU users were left out by data protection law rather than by product design.
Hermo makes money one way. Households pay for it, and we do not sell ads. Why we charge ›
Hermo is built by two founders, not by a company whose revenue depends on knowing more about you. Your family’s data is not sold, not shared, and never used to train third-party AI models. That is in the privacy policy, not in a blog post.
Hermo is a UK data controller under UK GDPR, so access, correction and erasure are rights you hold by law.
Privacy, first
Most people never test this until they want out.
Familypedia only knows what someone in your household told it. Delete any single fact in the app and it goes, without touching anything else.
Wipe the stored email content any time, on request, and carry on using the calendar, the lists and the WhatsApp thread.
Account deletion is in your settings. All your personal data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except anything the law requires us to keep.
Your email. Hermo does not delete, send or reply to anything in your inbox. When something needs a reply, it makes a to-do instead.
Side by side
Meta announced Muse on 8 September 2026: a personal agent that opens its own browser, fills in forms, buys things, books travel and sends email on your behalf, in its own app and in WhatsApp, rolling out in the US first. Meta says it is coming soon to AI glasses too, so the same agent is heading for a camera you wear. It works for the person holding the phone. What breaks in a family is rarely one person’s productivity, though. It is the handover between two of them.
| Meta Muse | Hermo | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | A personal agent that carries out tasks for one person: browsing, buying, booking, sending | A family agent that notices, captures, files and reminds, so household admin stops living in one parent’s head |
| Reads the family email | Connects to email with the access you grant, including sending on your behalf if you allow it | Connects to Gmail through Google-audited OAuth and reads the senders you pick, such as school, nursery and clubs |
| Who sees the result | The person whose agent it is | Both parents. One shared calendar, one shared list, one Fair Play board where the card holder gets the reminder |
| Family context | Remembers what you mention, and you can tell it to forget | Familypedia: the facts your household told it, queryable by either partner on WhatsApp. Nothing about your family is inferred from your email |
| Proactive | Suggests things unprompted and runs recurring tasks you set | Watchers fire ahead of need: weekend ideas midweek, half-term weeks before it starts, and the prep an event needs before the night before |
| Where you use it | Muse app, muse.ai, WhatsApp. AI glasses coming soon | WhatsApp, with no phone app to install, plus a web app for planning the week. Your own Claude or ChatGPT can connect over MCP |
| Where you can get it | Rolling out in the US | Available worldwide today |
| How the company earns | Meta’s business is advertising. Meta says Muse VM data is not shared with its ad systems | Subscription. Paid plans from £4 a month, and no ads |
| Deleting your data | You can tell it to forget specific things it has learned | Delete a single fact, the stored email history, or the whole account. Everything goes within 30 days, under UK GDPR |

Any assistant that runs your household is asking for a lot of trust. It is worth having more than a launch post to go on.
In September 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission ordered seven companies, Meta and Instagram among them, to explain how they test the effects of AI companion chatbots on children and teenagers.
In August 2026 a US federal judge approved Meta’s settlement with 29 state attorneys general, up to $17.1 billion, over claims it designed Instagram to be addictive to young users. Teen usage limits and stronger age checks are part of the agreement.
We mention it because we are asking you to decide who holds your children’s details.
A memoir by Meta’s former director of global public policy, who worked there from 2011 to 2017, about how decisions got made inside the company. After publication Meta obtained an arbitration ruling barring her from promoting it, and it disputes her account. Her publisher describes the book as her personal recollections rather than a news report.
Read it, read Meta’s response, and decide for yourself who you want holding your family’s week.

Meta says Muse does not share your conversations or the data in your Muse VM with its ad systems. Separately, Meta announced in October 2025 that from 16 December 2025 it would use people’s interactions with AI at Meta to personalise the content and ads they see, rolling out in most regions, with UK and EU users excluded under data protection law.
Hermo has no advertising business, so there is nothing to opt out of. Households pay for it directly.
Yes. Delete your account in Settings and all personal data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days. Single facts you delete yourself in the app, and you can ask privacy@hermo.ai to wipe the stored email data while keeping your account. Hermo is a UK data controller under UK GDPR, so erasure is a right, not a favour.
What you allow. On the Helper plan you pick the senders it watches, such as school, nursery and clubs, and it processes nothing else. Whole-inbox reading is an option on the top plan. The free Starter plan connects no email at all. Full detail is on the pricing page and the security page.
Anywhere. Hermo is available worldwide today. It lives in WhatsApp, with no phone app to install, plus a web app when you want to plan the week on a bigger screen.
For the family-organising job, yes: reading the school email, filling the shared calendar, holding the household facts both parents need, and surfacing half-term and the weekend before they arrive.
