A school calendar is written for six hundred families at once. Hermo reads it as if it were written for yours.
Tell Hermo your children once and every upload after that is filtered for them. The Y3 vaccinations, the Reception staggered start, the parent evening for their year and not the other seven: those come back ticked. Everything else is set aside behind a tap, grouped by year group, in case a date you want got filed under the wrong one.
A fixtures list runs to dozens of teams. Tick the ones your child actually plays for and their matches appear underneath: the date, who they’re playing, kick-off time, and whether it’s home or away. Nobody needs the Under 10 C results in their calendar.
A wrong date is worse than no date. So Hermo checks each event it found against the words actually printed in your PDF, and drops anything it can’t match. It also compares the weekday the school printed with the date beside it, which catches the classic case of a school reusing last year’s calendar and leaving the old days in.
When your children are at different schools, the terms, the inset days and the fixture lists rarely match up. Each school gets a card of its own showing which of your children are there and what you haven’t added yet, so the gap is easy to spot. Drop in a new newsletter or fixtures list whenever one arrives.
Dates in a calendar still need someone to act on them. Once they’re in, Hermo surfaces them ahead of need: half-term while there are still club places, the trip deadline before it closes, the fixture the night before so the kit gets washed.
