It can write

  • Habits, with a weekly target
  • Named lists, created and filled
  • The week’s meal plan
  • Recipes, from a link or pasted text
  • Who holds a Fair Play card

It cannot

  • Send, reply to or delete an email
  • Book anything or pay for anything
  • Write calendar events directly
  • Read your WhatsApp groups

Setting it up

How to connect it, start to finish

One URL, and nothing to install. It takes about two minutes. Claude and ChatGPT both move their menus around, so Hermo’s own settings page keeps the current version of these steps next to the URL.

Start here, whichever assistant you use. Sign in at app.hermo.ai, open Settings, then Assistant. That page shows your connection URL with a Copy button. Copy it and leave the page open.

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings then Capabilities and turn on Custom connectors. This is a one-time toggle and it is easy to miss.
  2. Go to Settings then Connectors.
  3. Click Add at the top right, then Add custom connector.
  4. Name it Hermo and paste the URL you copied.
  5. Click Add, then Connect. A browser tab opens: sign in to Hermo and click Allow.

Same steps in the Claude desktop app and at claude.ai. No files to edit.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Connectors, then Advanced. Some builds call it Security and login.
  2. Turn on Developer Mode. This is what lets ChatGPT use custom connectors at all.
  3. Back in Connectors, click the plus, or Create.
  4. Give it the name Hermo and a description, which is how ChatGPT knows when to use it. Something like Add tasks, habits and lists to my Hermo family planner.
  5. Paste the URL as the MCP Server URL and save. The first time ChatGPT calls Hermo a tab opens: sign in and click Allow.

If Developer Mode is not there, your ChatGPT plan or region may not have it yet.

That is the whole setup, with no config file to edit. To check it worked, ask your assistant what is on the family to-do list: if it comes back with your actual list, it is connected.

One connection, both surfaces

Connecting does not replace WhatsApp. You still message Hermo the way you already do, and your assistant becomes a third way in rather than a different product. The assistant connection is on the paid plans.
