Where these dates come from: dates marked “school” come from Nishkam High School’s own published calendar; we re-check Nishkam High School’s website about every 3 months for INSET days and any changes, and your calendar updates itself when we find them. Spotted a mistake? Tell us.

Questions parents ask
When is Birmingham half term in October 2026?
Fri 16 Oct 2026 to Sun 1 Nov 2026 inclusive. Pupils at Nishkam High School return on the next school day.
When does Nishkam High School go back to school in 2026/27?
The first day of the 2026/27 academic year is Wed 26 Aug 2026.
Does Nishkam High School set its own term dates?
Nishkam High School is an free schools, so it can set term dates that differ from Birmingham Council's. The dates here come from the council calendar unless we have verified the school's own published dates, and every date is labelled with its source.
Can I get INSET days too?
Yes, INSET days are in the calendar where we have confirmed them from the school's own published dates, and each one is labelled with its source.
Will the calendar update by itself?
Yes. It is a live subscription, not a one-off copy: your calendar re-checks it automatically, so next year's dates appear without you doing anything, and any correction reaches you the same way. It is free, and you can unsubscribe in one click.
What else can Hermo do for us?
Hermo is a family organiser that does the organising. It reads the school emails directly (no forwarding), pulls trips, dress-up days and payment deadlines into your Google Calendar, and answers questions you’ve told it before (“what size shoe is Mia?”, “where’s the health insurance number?”) so either parent can get the answer in WhatsApp. The weekend watcher looks ahead midweek and flags what’s coming; the half-term watcher surfaces the break weeks early with club and activity options. No new app to install.

The dates are the easy part. Covering the holidays is the bit that creeps up. Hermo starts on each school break weeks ahead, with local clubs, prices and times.
