About Hermo

We're Jenna and Fabian. Two careers, two kids, and things still get dropped in our house too. Trying harder was never what fixed it.

We ran a company together, and now we run our household the same way: shared goals, explicit ownership, agreed standards and a lot of communication.

Running the company, we noticed a pattern. Early on, the two of us could hold everything between us, but as we grew we had to upskill on communicating goals, context, and expectations.

The same problem shows up at home. One person usually carries the context; the other can't step up without it. And in a marriage, you're bringing two people together from two different upbringings, with different unwritten rules about who does what.

We tried the manual version first. A Fair Play deck, an Excel list of who had what, two separate to-do lists, different ways of tracking information. It wasn't working; things were falling through the cracks. Hermo is the digital layer for a system we already believed in.

We still get things wrong sometimes. Nobody's perfect. But the system doesn't need us to catch everything.

We spent a decade teaching machines to read the things people don't have time to read. Our first company, Shipamax (YC17), pulled structured information out of unstructured documents: the emails, attachments and PDFs businesses were drowning in, back in 2016 when almost nobody could do it reliably. It grew into an enterprise platform used by logistics companies around the world, and was acquired by WiseTech Global, the market leader in logistics technology.

A decade in AI, and a company built and exited with a young family at home. The family is what forced us to build a system that works. The decade is what let us build Hermo.
